What is a VLE?

Below is a definition for what is a VLE from the Oxford University Press

"A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is a system for delivering learning materials to students via the web." (GOODALL and Oxford, 2013)

A VLE allows students to access information which is relevant to their course such as lecture notes, worksheets and assignment guides. It also allows students to have discussions with others about the topic and even submit work electronically. The advantage of this is that the VLE can be accessed at anytime and anywhere.

The disadvantage of a VLE is that if the network that is hosting it goes down, the VLE can’t be accessed which can cause problems for students trying to use the VLE.
